Nandos Heaven

Standard

Today I am going to introduce you to my favourite meal of all time.

If I’m ever asked what my last meal would be if on death row, this is my answer.

I was introduced to the food outlet Nandos a couple of years back, by friends who had invited me to celebrate a birthday.

Now I’m a big lover of chicken, and it seemed a bit of a strange one that I hadn’t visited a Nandos before. But that first visit changed my life!

Over the years I have adapted my meal choice, starting off with a 1/2 chicken with Chips. Then extending to 1/2 chicken, chips with spicy rice.

Along then came the addition of Nandos piri piri salt on the chips and adding the haloumi cheese (stunning stuff).

My choice now has settled with 4 chicken thighs, chips with piri piri salt, spicy rice and haloumi cheese….heaven.

Every birthday I am treated to this and a number of times in between I must add.

I would recommend Nandos to anyone, I have never had a bad meal at any of their restaurants and the service is fast.

Go treat yourselves…..

After a killer spinning class I treated myself to this bad boy.

Pasta with beef mince in a simple tomato sauce…..topped with WW grated cheese.

For those who are interested here is my simple tomato sauce…..

First fry the beef mince until browned, add:

Carton of tomato pasata

1 Table spoon of tomato puree

1 Tea spoon of garlic puree

1 Beef Oxo cube

A pinch of sugar (to help with the bitterness of pasata)

Season with salt and pepper

Simmer for 10 minutes

Job done…..serve on pasta with a sprinkle of grated cheese…..parmesan is best.

Pasta contains carbs for energy refuelling and the beef mince (which was less than 5% fat) for protein to repair muscle damage.

You could also add onion, mushrooms, baked beans etc to bulk it out.

Enjoy. I did.

I’m thinking…spice it up for this week’s BARF blog.

Now I understand how life can consume time, like I have been with cake the last couple of weeks *1 stone weight gain. So I’m thinking a quick recipe today.

Please be aware that I will not be shying away from the usual highly technical content of my previous offerings. Phew I hear all 3 of you say…didn’t want to let my MAHOOOOOSIVE following down.

So if you’re sitting comfortably then I will begin….

Today I will be telling to you how to make…..wait for it….

A BOILED EGG!

“Shut the front door” I hear you cry. I know it’s a tough one, but I have every faith in all 2 of you. *bound to lose 1 after that startling revelation.

So eyes down looking, here is the recipe.

1 egg

1 pan of boiling water.

Put egg (in shell) in boiling water for 5 mins…..then remove.

Now for the spice…..paint a picture of Mel B on your egg before eating….

You’re very welcome!

Enjoy.
Ciao Bella.

Continuing my infamously popular food blogs, here is my next culinary delight.

Now this recipe has been handed down through the generations in my family,

so you peeps can count yourselves extremely privileged to be given access to this age old gem.

So get your aprons on, wash your hands here we go….

Super Noodles….

Now before you all  start pack your baking gear away in the very thought of the pure complexity of this menu buster…..let me take you through it….step by step…I have faith in you!!

Now make sure you have picked up Chicken Super Noodles, no other flavour will do!!

So we begin by opening the packet, be careful at this stage because there is always a few loose noodles floating about in there, they can end up anywhere in the kitchen if you’re not careful.

Next we remove the flavour packet from inside and place it to one side for later use.

Well done you’re doing well keep going!!

Next we break the noodle block into pieces into a bowl, I suggest breaking the noodles down quite small as this allows better coverage of water…

No sprinkle the flavour pouch over the noodles…

Next we pour ½ pint of boiling water over the noodles, ensuring all noodles are covered (this is very important)

Place bowl into microwave and cook for 5 ½ minutes. Stirring half way through.

Once time has elapsed, check noodles. There should be no water remaining.

If there is put in microwave for another minute, or until noodles are sticky.

Remove and enjoy with a fork, or if you’re feeling oriental, chop sticks….

Bonjour!!

A food post on Toast

Looks like the way forward with blogging is food!

My post titled Poached Eggs which consisted of a poem then my subsequent suggestion on how to cook poached eggs like a pro, smashed my likes and follow records. I thank you.

So here is my next step into culinary mega famous stardom…..enjoy.

How to make perfect toast.

*Now before you all start requesting that I write and publish my very own Michelin star rated cookbook, please understand that these are extremely complex and shouldn’t be attempted by the mere amateur cook. As you will see as follows:

Take piece of bread from sliced loaf

Place in toaster

When bread pops up remove and smother with butter

Voila!

Enjoy.

A constant reminder of a grumbling belly,

can be heard over the din of the tele.

Poached eggs on toast should quell the sound,

as I’m the best poached egg maker in all the land.

2 pieces of thick white toast dripping in butter,

eggs soft and sprinkled with a dash of salt ‘Yummy’ I hear you mutter.

*Poached eggs

Pan of water with lashings of vinegar in, slightly simmering.

Carefully break in the eggs to the water.

Cook for 3 minutes then remove from the pan.

Perfect poached eggs.
